Reducing plastic and saving the world!

Did you know we’re saving the planet? No, not as superhero’s (we wish!) but with our bio-degradable packaging.

Plastic waste reduction is a HUGE topic in the media at the moment and an incredibly important one too.  So we’re proud to be supporting it with our own bio-degradable packaging option.

Did you know, according to the National Geographic, there is 5.25 TRILLION pieces of plastic debris in our oceans.  Of which 269,000 tons floats on the surface and four billion plastic microfibres per square km can be found underwater- that’s astonishing right?

Normal plastic packaging can take years to biodegrade, hundreds and thousands of years in some cases, and as much as we love our packaging.  We don’t want it hanging around and polluting the environment for the next bazillion years SO we decided to take the steps to provide a biodegradable alternative.

We currently provide low density Polythene bags https://safechoicepackaging.co.uk/packaging-products/polythene-bags/.

Recycled boxes https://safechoicepackaging.co.uk/packaging-products/cardboard-boxes/.

Also our Mini Pack’r machine https://safechoicepackaging.co.uk/packaging-products/air-cushion-machine/ .

Which creates an air cushion protecting your products and also reducing waste from bulky packaging and bubble wrap.

Low-Density Polythene.

Our low-density Polythene (LDPE) bags are semi-rigid, translucent, very tough, weatherproof, good chemical resistance, low water absorption and easily processed by most methods. So here’s the facts and figures:

  • It takes 91% LESS energy to recycle 1lb of LDPE Polythene than it takes to recycle 1lb of paper.
  • It also takes four times MORE energy to manufacture a paper bag than a polythene bag.
  • Recycling our Polythene bags also reduces the need to produce new raw materials, once again saving energy
  • Oh, and even better- our Polythene bags can be recycled time and time and time again- there’s even designated bins at most supermarkets where you can do so.

So we can safely say our packaging not only looks great and works perfectly but also protects the environment- high five!!
